Our nursery is 16'X85'
It is air conditioned and heated. We have installed a ventilation system which entirely replaces the air in the room
with fresh air in one minute without more than a 5 degree fluctuation in temperature, with an automatic timer set to go on
multiple times a day.
We have concrete flooring with floor
drains, making cleaning and disinfecting an easy and effectual task. We use a disinfectant - Kennel-Lan, designed specifically
for kennel use.
We also have an isolation room - 12'X16' with separate air
condition and heat and separate ventilation. We hope it is never used, but rest easy knowing should we have an ill puppy,
we can easily separate it from the others and care for it properly.
We
have installed a dishwasher with a sanatize cycle to ensure cleanliness in all of our puppy's bowls.
All puppies are kept in separate
litters, in crates with soft coated wire bottoms, with dividers between each crate. This is in order to keep puppies
clean and prevent disease. With dividers between crates and puppies kept in separate litters, should one litter be coming
down with something, it does not spred to another litter. We have had extremely good luck in keeping puppies healthy
with this type of program.
Our puppies are on a strict vaccination
schedule, with a parvovirus vaccination given at 4 weeks of age, a Five Way given at 6 weeks of age; at 8 weeks they are given
either a 5 way or a 7 way depending on breed and size of puppy. If puppies are still with us at 12 and 16 weeks they
are given another 7 way vaccination.
Puppies are wormed every 2 weeks, starting at two weeks of
age. They are given a preventive round of medication for Giardia and a preventive round of medication for Coccicidia.
They
are fed a super premium puppy food from the time they start weaning - approximately 4 weeks, until they leave our care.
Each buyer is instructed on the care and feeding of each individual puppy.
